EdgeProp Singapore recently held a submissions workshop on March 21 to announce the details of this year’s EdgeProp Excellence Awards (EPEA). The workshop was attended by representatives from 20 top real estate developers and provided an overview of the submission process and award categories.
Established in 2017, the EPEA aims to recognize and celebrate property developers and their developments that set a benchmark of excellence in Singapore’s real estate industry. This year’s theme, “Spaces to Places”, emphasizes the importance of purposeful and value-driven developments in a land-scarce country. Jacqie Thio, marketing manager of EdgeProp Singapore, the host of the workshop, elaborates, “Beyond functionality, these developments should foster a sense of community and belonging.”

The award categories are divided into four main areas: Design Excellence, Innovation Excellence, Sustainability Excellence, and Marketing Excellence.

Eligibility for the 2025 EPEA Awards was also discussed at the submissions workshop. Residential projects that received their Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) between January 1, 2023, and May 31, 2025, or uncompleted projects for which the first caveat was lodged between January 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025, are eligible to participate. Additionally, operational hotels and co-living spaces in 2025 are also qualified, as are commercial (retail and office) and industrial projects completed between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2029.

Sustainability was a key focus of the workshop, with CPG Corporation, the official knowledge partner and judging partner for the 2025 EPEA Awards, presenting the Sustainability Excellence Award. CPG’s Head of Sustainability, Gavin Chan, highlighted that buildings contribute 25% of Singapore’s carbon emissions, making sustainability a crucial aspect of the real estate sector. The award will recognize developments that demonstrate strong sustainability performance, obtain top-tier Green Mark certification, and qualify for green financing schemes. Criteria for scoring include energy efficiency, whole life carbon, health and well-being, resilience, intelligence, and maintainability.

The main sponsor for the 2025 EPEA Awards is Swiss premium appliance brand V-ZUG, which shared its commitment to sustainability at the workshop. The company has been carbon-neutral since 2020 and continues to advance its efforts through various initiatives, such as planting trees in Scotland annually to contribute to biodiversity and carbon offsetting. To date, V-ZUG has planted around one million trees. “At V-ZUG, we truly believe that luxury and responsibility go hand in hand,” said Angeline Yap, Managing Director of V-ZUG Southeast Asia.

Developer submissions for the 2025 EPEA Awards will open in April and close on May 31, with the assessment period taking place from June to July. The award winners will be announced at the EPEA gala in October this year.
